The Story of the Spaniard The Signature Range CB (Compass Box) is a blended malt Scotch from Compass Box. It vats malts from several distilleries, Clynelish lending its waxy Highland texture. Clynelish sits on the North Sea coast at Brora, in the far north east of the Highlands.

The Clynelish within gives a waxy, citrussy coastal note. Maturation in an Oloroso cask laid dried fruit over the oily, coastal malt. The waxy, oily spirit takes cask flavour well while keeping its citrus and coast. The cool, salt laden coastal air works into the maturing casks at Brora. A coastal maturation lends a faint brine to the oily, waxy malt. Refill oak lets the famous Clynelish wax lead, lemon and honey beneath. Its waxy character, a candle wax and beeswax texture, is prized above almost any other by blenders. Years in oak round the spirit, the citrus deepening to orange and tropical fruit.

At 43% it is clean and coastal. A waxy, oily texture runs through it, with citrus, honey and a coastal lift. The texture is thick and oily, the wax coating the palate. The finish is deep, waxy and maritime. A characterful blended malt Scotch.
