Global Whisky Limited bottled this Cambus single grain, a 31 year old distilled in 1991, from cask 102829 and bottled at 57.1%. Just 307 bottles were filled. Cambus, a silent grain distillery on the River Devon, made whisky from about 1806 to 1993. John Moubray converted an old mill, switching from malt to grain stills in the 1830s.

Distilled continuously in two Coffey stills from a grain mash, giving a clean, mellow grain whisky. Maturation in a sherry cask laid dried fruit over the oily grain. Long ageing brings a deep coconut, toffee and a mellow, polished oak. Three decades and more turn a light spirit into something rich and tropical. Grain whisky like this gains coconut and toffee from decades in active oak. The light, sweet grain takes on a deep, oily richness over many years. The distillery stood near Alloa, in the old brewing and distilling country of the River Devon.

At cask strength 57.1% it is full bodied. The Oloroso brings dried fruit and a nutty depth over the sweet grain. A crème brûlée and a polished oak give it depth. A long, oily finish carries a coconut lift. This is a finite single grain from Cambus, closed in 1993.
