Bottled by Alambic Classique, this Cambus, a 33 year old single grain distilled in 1989, from cask 22063 and bottled at 62.7%. The outturn was 169 bottles. Founded around 1806 by John Moubray, Cambus was a Lowland grain distillery that fell silent in 1993. Closed in 1993, the site is now a Diageo cooperage beside the Blackgrange warehouses.

Distilled in continuous stills for a light, sweet grain spirit, building the gentle Cambus grain style. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, American oak giving coconut and toffee. Beyond twenty five years the grain grows deep and oily, coconut, butterscotch and crème brûlée over polished oak. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the sweet, oily core over decades. Single grain Cambus is rare, mostly from independent bottlers and the odd Diageo Special Release. Alfred Barnard visited in 1885, noting six huge warehouses holding seventeen thousand casks.

At 62.7%, undiluted, it is deep and sweet. The ex-Bourbon gives a sweet, oily vanilla. It is clean and sweet, the grain spirit shining through. A sweet, coconut led finish lingers. This is an old single grain from a closed Lowland distillery.
