From Whisky Druid comes this Tullibardine, an 11 year old release from 2007 and bottled at 52.1%. A release of 70 bottles. Built in 1949 in Blackford, on the edge of the Highlands, Tullibardine is a soft, honeyed Highland malt. Picard brought a range of wine cask finishes, named for the size of the cask: the 225 Sauternes, 228 Burgundy and 500 Sherry.

It was drawn off copper pot stills fed by the Danny Burn, for a soft, vanilla scented spirit. Ex-Sherry wood added a dried fruit richness to the soft make. Still young, the malt is honeyed and fruity with a soft spice. The cool Highland climate gives a slow, even maturation over the years. Tullibardine was founded in 1949 by the architect William Delme-Evans, the first new distillery in post war Scotland. King James IV is said to have bought ale at a Blackford brewery in 1488, on the site the distillery now occupies.

At its natural 52.1% it is concentrated. The Amontillado adds a dry, nutty, almond edge, and a gentle vanilla from the wood runs under a mellow, honeyed character. A dried fruit and a soft oak give it depth. The finish runs gentle, fruity and mellow. This is a gentle, honeyed Highland single malt.
