Description
An independent Tullibardine, released by Blackadder, a 35 year old from 1966, drawn from cask 2121 and bottled at 54.8%. 160 bottles in all. Set in Blackford, on the edge of the Highlands, Tullibardine has distilled since 1949. Delme-Evans went on to design the Jura and GlenAllachie distilleries.
It was drawn off copper pot stills fed by the Danny Burn, for a soft, vanilla scented spirit. A sherry butt held it, the wood lending raisin and walnut. Decades leave it deep and gentle, waxy honey and dried fruit with great age. Under French wine ownership the distillery has leaned into cask finishes. The distillery sits just off the A9 near Gleneagles, one of Scotland's more accessible. Under French wine ownership the distillery has leaned into its cask finishes. The Murray and Custodian's Collections gather its older and rarer bottlings.
At cask strength 54.8% it is full bodied. The Oloroso gives dried fruit and a toasted nuttiness, and a gentle vanilla from the wood runs under apple, honey and a gentle spice. It is fruity and soft, the fruit and oak well matched. A warming, honeyed finish lingers. This is a honeyed Highland single malt from Perthshire.
