Description
This official Tullibardine single malt, bottled at 46%. Tullibardine was founded in 1949 by William Delme-Evans in the southern Highlands near Gleneagles, and it stands on a site with five centuries of brewing. It is one of few distilleries to distil, mature and bottle all on the one site.
The spirit was run through the distillery's compact copper stills, to build a honeyed, malty character. A sherry cask wrapped the soft spirit in dried fruit and a nutty depth. No age is given, but the honeyed softness marks it as Tullibardine. Refill oak lets the honeyed Tullibardine character lead, vanilla over toffee. The distillery sits just off the A9 near Gleneagles, one of Scotland's more accessible. Under French wine ownership the distillery has leaned into its cask finishes. The Murray and Custodian's Collections gather its older and rarer bottlings.
At an easy 46% it is light. The Oloroso adds figgy fruit and a warm nuttiness, and vanilla, toffee and orchard fruit meet soft vanilla and honey from the cask. Soft orchard fruit and vanilla sit behind the sweetness. It closes soft, honeyed and warm. This is the soft Highland malt of Blackford.
