A Tormore single malt, selected and bottled by Signatory Vintage, a 33 year old from 1988, drawn from cask 3 and bottled at 51.3%. The outturn was 456 bottles. Tormore was opened in 1960 in Speyside, near the Cairngorms, and it is now owned by Elixir Distillers. Water comes from the Achvochkie Burn, flowing off the granite hills above.

Distilled on soft Speyside water through purifier stills, building the firm, clean Tormore style. A sherry cask wrapped the light spirit in dried fruit and a nutty depth. At thirty years and more it is rich and waxy, candied fruit, almond and old oak in a deep old malt. The purifiers raise reflux, giving the clean, nutty spirit Tormore is known for. The architect Sir Albert Richardson gave it a grand, ornamental design unlike any other distillery. Its granite buildings, copper roofs and musical clock earned it listed status in 1986.

At a full 51.3% it is intense yet nutty. The Oloroso brings dried fruit, fig and a nutty depth, and apple, citrus and a soft almond meet honeyed oak sweetness underneath. Soft orchard fruit and nut sit behind the sweetness. It closes clean, nutty and dry. This is a clean, citrussy Speyside single malt.
