Description
A Tormore single malt, selected and bottled by Klubb23 (K23), a 12 year old release from 2010, drawn from cask 801203 and bottled at 63.8%. 60 bottles in all. Set near Grantown-on-Spey in Speyside, Tormore has distilled since 1960. Elixir Distillers bought it in 2022 and are reviving it as a single malt brand.
It was worked through swan neck stills with purifiers, for the light, clean, nutty make Tormore is known for. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, gentle American oak beneath the fruit. Still young, the malt is light and nutty with a citrus lift. Soft water off the granite hills gives a clean, ester driven make. Most of the spirit matures off site, much of it in refill ex-Bourbon wood. The distillery sits near Grantown-on-Spey, in sight of the Cromdale Hills. Tormore is cleaner than the waxy Clynelish, with more weight than the lightest Speysiders. The new owners released a Blueprint Series of 10 year olds in 2025 ahead of a full range.
At 63.8%, undiluted, it is deep and nutty. Apple, citrus and a soft almond meet a quiet vanilla from the refill oak. Soft orchard fruit and nut sit behind the sweetness. The close is clean, nut over orchard fruit. This is a clean, citrussy Speyside single malt.
