Description
This official Tomatin single malt, a 15 year old Highland malt from 2008 and bottled at 46%. Tomatin is a Highland single malt distilled in the hills south of Inverness, where the distillery was founded in 1897. Today it works twelve stills, having shifted from blend volume to single malt.
The spirit was distilled slowly for the soft, fruity Tomatin make, building the approachable Tomatin style. A sherry cask wrapped the soft spirit in dried fruit and a nutty depth. Past a decade the fruit deepens into honey, apple and a soft spice. Long, gentle ageing turns the fresh fruit towards honey and soft spice. For most of its life the distillery rarely ran to its full capacity. The make is light and fruity, easy to like and easy to drink. Special releases like Decades and Warehouse 6 have marked the distillery's milestones. Cold, clean water runs down to the distillery from the hills above.
At 46% it is clean and fruity. Apple, vanilla and a light spice, and the Palo Cortado adds a dry, nutty, savoury note. It is gentle and fruity, the soft spirit shining through. A fruity, lightly spiced finish lingers. This is the soft, fruity Highland malt of Tomatin.
