Kintra Whisky bottled this Tobermory, aged 25 year old from 1994, drawn from cask 5013 and bottled at 50.9%. The outturn was 250 bottles. Made on the Isle of Mull, Tobermory is the unpeated single malt of the island's sole distillery. The distillery makes two malts: the unpeated Tobermory and the peated Ledaig.

It was drawn off stills with their S shaped lyne arms, for a medium bodied, fruity spirit. Maturation in sherry laid dried fruit over the fruit. Beyond twenty years the malt grows deep and waxy, honey, dried fruit and nut over old oak. Sea air works into the island maturation, lending a faint saline lift. The distillery's history is broken by long silences; its buildings once stored a local cheddar. Burn Stewart revived production in 1993, and Distell bought the distillery in 2013. The stills carry boil bulbs and a kink in the lyne arms, which lifts the reflux.

At a full 50.9% it is intense and layered. Green apple, citrus and a herbal lift, and raisin and a nutty sherry depth build. The texture is oily and waxy, the fruit threaded through. A long, oily finish ends on orchard fruit. This is Tobermory's oily, unpeated island single malt.
