Description
A Strathisla single malt, selected and bottled by Signatory Vintage matured to 27 year old from 1979, drawn from cask 1534 and bottled at 55.7%. Only 605 bottles were released. Strathisla, opened in 1786 in the Speyside town of Keith, is the home of Chivas Regal. Strathisla is the fruity heart of Chivas Regal, owned by Chivas Brothers since 1950.
Distilled in short copper pot stills on Broomhill Spring water, giving the honeyed, full bodied spirit at its heart. Ex-Sherry wood suited the full make, adding a dried fruit richness. Past twenty five years the spirit turns honeyed and full while keeping its fruit. The full bodied new make carries cask character well across long maturation. The distillery stands among gardens by the rushing River Isla. The malt is the fruity heart of the Chivas Regal blend, owned by Chivas Brothers since 1950.
At a natural 55.7% it is full and rich. The Oloroso lends raisin, fig and toasted nuts, and the refill oak lending honey and vanilla, with pear, honey and a buttery malt. The texture is rich and creamy, the fruit lifted by honey. The finish is deep, waxy and fruity. This is a rich, honeyed Speyside single malt.
