Description
This is a Strathisla single malt, chosen and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail matured to 25 year old and bottled at 70%. Strathisla, founded in 1786 by Taylor and Milne in Keith, on the River Isla in Speyside, is the home of Chivas Regal. It is the oldest continuously operating distillery in the Scottish Highlands.
It was worked through short pot stills for a rich, fruity make, for the rich, fruity Speyside make Strathisla is known for. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood adding a light honeyed sweetness. Past fifteen years the fruit deepens into honey, dried fruit and almond. Years in oak round the spirit, the honey and dried fruit deepening with age. The make leans rich and fruity, fuller than the lighter Speyside style. Few distilleries can claim an unbroken run of distilling as long as Strathisla's. The Isla valley's soft water and old stills shape a honeyed, fruity spirit.
Bottled at a cask strength 70%, it is concentrated. A rich, fruity sweetness meet a quiet vanilla from the refill oak. Beneath it run honey, pear and a soft spice. A fruity, gently spiced finish lingers long. This is the fruity Speyside heart of Chivas Regal.
