This is a Strathisla single malt, chosen and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail, aged 40 year old from 1967, drawn from cask 6112 and bottled at 50%. Strathisla was founded in 1786 by the Isla in Keith, Banffshire, and it has distilled without a break for well over two centuries. It is the oldest continuously operating distillery in the Scottish Highlands.

Distilled on soft Isla valley water in traditional pot stills, building the classic Strathisla style. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, with vanilla under the orchard fruit. At this great age the malt is full and mellow, the fruit deep and the oak polished. The unpeated make lets the wood and the fruit speak without smoke. The make leans rich and fruity, fuller than the lighter Speyside style. Few distilleries can claim an unbroken run of distilling as long as Strathisla's. The Isla valley's soft water and old stills shape a honeyed, fruity spirit. Strathisla is the oldest continuously working distillery in the Scottish Highlands, founded in 1786.

At its natural 50% it is rich and fruity. A rich, fruity sweetness meet honeyed oak sweetness underneath. Beneath it run honey, pear and a soft spice. It closes long, honeyed and fruity. This is the fruity Speyside heart of Chivas Regal.
