This is a Strathclyde single grain, chosen and bottled by Murray McDavid matured to 37 year old from 1987, drawn from cask 62296 / 2210045 and bottled at 44.9%. Only 503 bottles were released. Strathclyde was founded in 1927 in the Gorbals, Glasgow; it is the only grain distillery in Glasgow. Single grain releases are rare; this comes from an independent bottler rather than the distillery.

It was worked through continuous column stills from wheat, for the light, sweet grain spirit the distillery is known for. Ex-Sherry wood added a dried fruit richness to the sweet grain. Decades leave it deep and waxy, crème brûlée and coconut with a polished depth. The high strength spirit mellows slowly into a soft, sweet old grain. Strathclyde is the only grain distillery in Glasgow, once one of Scotland's whisky cities. It was built by the gin distiller Seager Evans in 1927 on the site of an old cotton mill.

Bottled at a cask strength 44.9%, it is rich. The Pedro Ximenez lends raisin, date and treacle over a sweet grain. Soft toffee and vanilla sit behind the sweetness. Crème brûlée and oak draw out the close. This is an aged single grain from a Glasgow distillery.
