A Strathclyde single grain, selected and bottled by Cadenhead's, aged 29 year old from 1989 and bottled at 55.7%. Just 330 bottles were filled. Opened in 1927 by the gin distiller Seager Evans on the south bank of the Clyde in Glasgow, Strathclyde is Glasgow's only grain distillery. It is the only distillery left in Glasgow, once one of Scotland's great whisky cities.

Distilled continuously in twin Coffey stills from wheat, giving a clean, high strength grain whisky. A refill American oak cask held it, building the sweet, oily grain character. At this age it is rich and waxy, the sweet grain folded into a buttery, oily body. The cool Lowland climate gives a slow, even maturation over many years. The distillery sits in the Gorbals on the south bank of the Clyde. It is now part of the Chivas Brothers stable, working quietly in the city. Glasgow once held distilleries across the city; today only Strathclyde remains.

At its natural 55.7% it is concentrated. The ex-Bourbon gives toffee, vanilla and a soft oil. The mouthfeel is oily, the coconut carried on a sweet body. Toffee and vanilla see out a long finish. This is a soft, dessert sweet Lowland grain whisky.
