This official Springbank single malt, a 25 year old release and bottled at 43%. Springbank is a Campbeltown distillery run by J and A Mitchell since 1828, Campbeltown's most revered surviving distillery. The distillery champions the old, slow, labour intensive way of making whisky.

It was floor malted, lightly peated and distilled two and a half times, and condensed in traditional worm tubs. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, gentle American oak beneath the spirit. At this age it is rich and complex, the fruit folded into a waxy, briny body. Everything is done on site, the spirit going from still to cask to bottle in Campbeltown. Quality and tradition, not volume, have always been the watchwords here. The spirit is filled to cask and matured within the distillery walls. Few distilleries keep so much of the old craft alive under one roof. Campbeltown was once the whisky capital of the world, with more than thirty distilleries at its peak.

At 43% it is smooth and oily. An oily, maritime character with light peat are layered with creamy vanilla and oak sweetness. Beneath it run oily fruit, salt and a coastal depth. A long, oily, coastal finish lingers. This is the flagship malt of old Campbeltown.
