Description
An official single malt from the Speyside Distillery, drawn from cask Batch 1 and bottled at 59.3%. Only 1500 bottles were released. Raised single handed by a drystone mason over some twenty years on a former mill site by the River Tromie, the Speyside Distillery is one of Scotland's smallest. Short stills and a slow distillation are coaxed by hand towards a light, fruity spirit.
It was drawn off short stills coaxed by hand towards a delicate make, for a clean, honeyed spirit of real finesse. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, gentle American oak beneath the fruit. No age is given, but the fresh fruit marks it as classic Speyside Distillery make. A small, hands on operation keeps the spirit close to its maker's intent. The distillery played the fictional Lagganmore in the BBC series Monarch of the Glen. The SPEY range and the dark Beinn Dubh are bottled by Harvey's of Edinburgh.
At a hearty 59.3% it carries real weight. The refill oak lending honey and vanilla, with apple, pear and heather honey. The mouthfeel is soft, the fruit carried on a honeyed body. The finish runs fresh, soft and fragrant. This is a fruity malt from one of Scotland's smallest distilleries.
