Description
This is a Royal Brackla single malt, chosen and bottled by Whisky UA matured to 9 year old from 2015, drawn from cask 304266 and bottled at 46%. The outturn was 358 bottles. Founded in 1812 near Nairn, on the Cawdor Estate, Royal Brackla is the King's Own Whisky. Long a backbone of the Dewar's blends, it is now bottled as a single malt in its own right.
The spirit was run through lamp glass spirit stills for a clean, fruity spirit, to build a fragrant, orchard fruit character. Maturation in a sherry cask laid dried fruit over the elegant malt. Still young, the malt is clean and fruity with a soft spice. A long fermentation of up to 110 hours builds the fruity esters at the heart of the spirit. Sherry and wine casks suit the elegant spirit, adding fruit and depth. The distillery was rebuilt and expanded across its long working life. A fruity, lightly spiced make sits at the heart of every bottling.
At an easy 46% it is gentle. The Oloroso brings dried fruit, fig and a nutty depth, and honeyed fruit and oak spice meet soft vanilla and honey from the cask. Soft orchard fruit and honey sit behind the sweetness. It finishes clean, elegant and fruity. This is the regal Highland malt of Cawdor.
