Description
A Royal Brackla single malt, selected and bottled by The Whisky Agency, aged 12 year old from 2006, drawn from cask 300465 and bottled at 51.3%. Just 180 bottles were filled. Set in the Highlands on the estate of Cawdor Castle, Royal Brackla has distilled since 1812. It is one of only three distilleries to carry the Royal name in Scotch.
Double distilled in tall copper pot stills with upward angled lyne arms, giving the refined, lightly spiced make at its heart. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, with vanilla under the orchard fruit. By this age the orchard fruit rounds into honey and a fuller spice. Years in oak round the spirit, the fruit and spice deepening with age. A fruity, lightly spiced make sits at the heart of every bottling. Cawdor Burn water and tall stills shape a clean, elegant spirit. The royal warrant set Brackla apart in the early days of legal whisky. Few Highland malts wear their history as openly as this one.
At 51.3%, undiluted, it is deep and honeyed. The refill oak lending honey and vanilla, with orchard fruit and a gentle spice. The mouthfeel is round, the fruit carried on a honeyed body. A warming, fruity finish lingers. This is a polished, fruity Highland whisky.
