Description
Single malt Royal Brackla, an independent The Single Cask Ltd bottling, aged 9 year old from 2015, drawn from cask 300166 and bottled at 57%. Just 607 bottles were filled. Set near Nairn, on the Cawdor Estate, Royal Brackla has distilled since 1812. It was the first Scotch whisky to hold a royal warrant, renewed by Queen Victoria in 1838.
The spirit was run through lamp glass spirit stills for a clean, fruity spirit, to build a fragrant, orchard fruit character. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, lending honey and vanilla. Younger here, it keeps a crisp, fragrant freshness over light honey. A long fermentation of up to 110 hours builds the fruity esters at the heart of the spirit. Tall copper stills and a long fermentation give an elegant, fragrant spirit. The distillery lies near Nairn, at the edge of the Highlands above Inverness. Owned today by John Dewar and Sons, part of Bacardi, it remains a quiet Highland name.
At a full 57% it is intense yet elegant. A fruity, honeyed elegance meet soft vanilla and honey from the cask. Beneath it run honey, apple and a warm spice. The close is warm, honey over soft oak. This is an elegant, fruity Highland single malt.
