From Signatory Vintage comes this Royal Brackla, an 11 year old Highland malt from 2010, drawn from cask 307491, 495 & 498 and bottled at 43%. Royal Brackla was founded in 1812 by Captain William Fraser on the Earl of Cawdor's estate near Nairn, and it became the first Scotch granted a royal warrant, by William IV in 1833. The house style leans on sherry wood, fruity and elegant.

The spirit was made in copper pot stills after a long fermentation, for a fruity, honeyed make of real finesse. Ex-Bourbon casks held the spirit, soft oak that lets the fruit lead. At a youthful age the fruit is lively and the spice gentle. Sherry wood is central to the house style, lending dried fruit and a nutty depth. Queen Victoria renewed the royal warrant in 1838, confirming its regal standing. The house style leans on sherry wood, building a fruity, dried fruit character. Tall copper stills and a long fermentation give an elegant, fragrant spirit.

At 43% it is supple and fruity. Vanilla and a light cream from the barrel runs under citrus and a floral lift. It is refined and deep, the fruit and oak well matched. A long, honeyed finish carries a fruity lift. This is an elegant Highland malt of real depth.
