This is a Rosebank single malt, chosen and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail, a 24 year old release, from 1990, drawn from cask RO/14/02 and bottled at 46%. Rosebank stood beside the Forth and Clyde Canal from 1840 until it was shut by its owners in 1993. Its delicate spirit was revered by blenders.

It was distilled three times and passed through traditional worm tub condensers, giving a clean, fruity spirit with a worm tub weight. Maturation in Oloroso sherry laid dried fruit over the floral malt. Long ageing brings a waxy depth, candied fruit and a mellow grassy note. The third distillation lifts the spirit clean and high, leaving a delicate, ester rich new make. Ian Macleod rescued the distillery, the trademark and the last casks, reopening it in 2023. The first new make ran on the 5th of June 2023, almost thirty years to the day after closure.

At 46% it is soft, grassy and honeyed. The Oloroso brings dried fruit, fig and a nutty depth, and a gentle vanilla and coconut from the wood, with lime, pear and a herbal note. The texture is soft and rounded, the florals lifted by honey. A softly floral finish lingers warm. This is prized stock from a distillery reborn only in 2023.
