Description
Wilson & Morgan, the Italian independent behind the Barrel Selection range, drew this 20 Year Old: a 1990 vintage, cask 4412. Mortlach, owned by John Walker & Sons from 1923, makes a dense, sulphury Speyside through worm tubs and its singular 2.81-times distillation.
Twenty years in Oloroso deepened the muscular Dufftown spirit into figgy dried fruit and leather, oxidation and ellagitannins adding a nutty, polished structure.
At 56.5% it shows dried fruit, chocolate and a nutty, sherried depth framed by the dense Dufftown spirit, undiluted. Mortlach at full weight.
