Description
The Wine Society, an independent bottler, drew this 19 Year Old: from a 1990 vintage. Mortlach, owned by John Walker & Sons from 1923, makes a dense, sulphury Speyside through worm tubs and its singular 2.81-times distillation.
By nineteen years the meaty spirit had turned rich and oxidative in the Oloroso, raisin, walnut, chocolate and a struck-match savour.
At 55.8% it shows fig, date, leather and dark chocolate framed by the dense Dufftown spirit, undiluted. A meaty, muscular Mortlach.
