Description
That Boutique-y Whisky Company, known for its comic-strip labels, released this 20 Year Old, an outturn of 342 bottles. Mortlach, long the muscular heart of the Johnnie Walker blends, draws its meaty depth from low-copper worm tubs and a 2.81-times distillation regime.
By twenty years the rich, meaty spirit had turned oxidative, esters and acetals lending dried fruit and a savoury, oily weight beneath the vanilla.
At 48.8% it shows citrus, honey and an oak-framed depth over the meaty Mortlach body, undiluted. A Beast of Dufftown.
