Description
Signatory Vintage, the Edinburgh independent founded in 1988, selected this 10 Year Old: a 2012 from cask 5, an outturn of 520 bottles. Mortlach is the Speyside outlier known as the Beast of Dufftown, its worm tubs and 2.81 distillation building a dense, sulphury, meaty spirit.
By ten years the Oloroso had married the oily, meaty spirit, melanoidins lending dried fruit and chocolate to the savoury depth.
At 58% it shows dried fruit, tobacco and a leafy note, undiluted. The savoury Dufftown style.
