Description
From Signatory Vintage, one of Scotland's largest independent bottlers, this 9 Year Old is a 2003 vintage from a small parcel of casks, an outturn of 1,183 bottles. Mortlach, the Beast of Dufftown, condenses its spirit in worm tubs and part-triple-distils through the tiny Wee Witchie still, building weight and a savoury, sulphury core.
Nine years in ex-Bourbon left the meaty spirit forward, the charred oak filtering the sharpest sulphur while vanillin began leaching from the wood.
At 40% it shows vanilla, cooked fruit and a savoury weight over the full-bodied base. A Beast of Dufftown.
