Description
From Duncan Taylor, the Huntly independent with one of Scotland's deepest cask inventories, this 22 Year Old is a 1989 vintage from a small parcel of casks. Mortlach's heavy, savoury style comes from worm-tub condensing and a part-triple distillation through the Wee Witchie, unchanged since 1897.
By twenty-two years the robust Mortlach spirit had grown deep and meaty, cumulative oxidation building leather, nuts and dried fruit as the strength eased.
At 46% it shows a savoury, struck-match note, cooked fruit, dried fruit, a hay-like note and vanilla. A Beast of Dufftown.
