Decadent Drinks, the independent behind the Equinox & Solstice and Decadent Drams ranges, bottles this 20 Year Old: from a 2005 vintage, an outturn of 174 bottles. Mortlach, owned by John Walker & Sons from 1923, makes a dense, sulphury Speyside through worm tubs and its singular 2.81-times distillation.
Twenty years in ex-Bourbon let oxidation gain weight, baked fruit and a waxy, oily depth building over the gamey, savoury spirit.
At 50.1% it shows vanilla, cooked fruit and a savoury weight carried on the heavy Dufftown body, undiluted. A Beast of Dufftown.
