Riegger's Selection, a German independent, bottles this 15 Year Old, a 1999 vintage from ex-Bourbon cask 50176, an outturn of 171. Miltonduff, the sweet, grassy Speyside raised on the grounds of Pluscarden Abbey and known as a Ballantine's workhorse.
Fifteen years in ex-Bourbon let oxidation gain weight, baked orchard fruit and richer toffee building over the fresh, floral character with a waxy edge.
At 55.2% it shows apple, sweet pear and vanilla, undiluted. A Riegger's 15.
