Description
Gordon & MacPhail, the Elgin house founded in 1895, has bottled Miltonduff as a single malt for generations. Mosstowie was the heavier malt Miltonduff made on its Lomond stills between 1964 and 1981, a separate spirit from the same Speyside distillery. This Connoisseurs Choice 25 Year Old is a 1979 vintage matured in Oloroso, bottled in 2004.
Across twenty-five years the Oloroso and a slow angel's share concentrated Mosstowie's weightier make into stewed dried fruit, the strength easing as it aged.
At 40% it shows a faint sweaty depth over sherried dried fruit. A 1979 Mosstowie 25.
