Description
Whiskymax is an independent bottler. The cask was filled in 1984 and bottled in 2016, a 32 year old Littlemill, from cask 3899, from the Spirit & Cask Range. A handful of bottles from a vanished distillery, as rare as Lowland whisky gets.
Matured in ex-Bourbon, thirty-two years carry the lost distillery's soft spirit.
At 48.5%, undiluted, the bourbon cask lends vanilla and creamy fudge. The profile runs to citrus, cooked fruit, a cooked-vegetable note, vanilla, vegetative, fresh fruit. Decades of slow oxidation turned the spirit's aldehydes to acids and then to fruity esters, the ex-Bourbon adding vanilla beneath. Great age in a dunnage warehouse means the angel's share has taken much of the cask and gently lowered the strength, concentrating what remains.
