Description
Ladyburn appears under the name Ayrshire when independents bottle it, the distillery name being off limits. Signatory bottled this 1975 as a 32 year old single cask from ex-Bourbon cask 556, an outturn of 265 bottles for the Netherlands. Ladyburn ran just nine years inside William Grant's Girvan grain complex in Ayrshire, closing in 1975, the year this was distilled.
Ladyburn was only ever two wash and two spirit stills in the Girvan grain plant, its make going into Grant's blends. Over thirty-two years the gentle cask drew the lean spirit into a waxy, honeyed maturity.
Bottled at 46%. The ex-Bourbon lends vanilla through vanillin, coconut through oak lactones, and toffee from maltol over an oily, waxy depth. A rare final-year-vintage Ayrshire.
