Description
This 18 Years Old is a 2021 release of the older core anCnoc, the single malt of Knockdhu distillery near Knock in Banffshire, matured in ex-Bourbon and Oloroso. Named anCnoc so it would not be mistaken for Knockando, it comes from one of Scotland's smallest distilleries, founded in 1894.
Knockdhu runs a single pair of stills. Matured in ex-Bourbon and Oloroso casks, the sherry adds a darker layer to the bourbon base.
Bottled at 46%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla, the Oloroso dried fruit, melanoidins reading as fig and raisin. The recorded notes run to chocolate and a coal-gas mineral edge. A rounded older anCnoc.
