Description
The 12 Years Old is the core anCnoc, the single malt of Knockdhu distillery near Huntly in Banffshire. The whisky carries the Gaelic name anCnoc, meaning the hill, having been renamed in the 1990s so it would not be mistaken for Knockando.
The site returned to production in 1989. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks, the bourbon oak adds vanilla and a soft toffee note to the bright malt.
Bottled at 40%. The ex-Bourbon cask gives vanilla and coconut from vanillin and oak lactones, with a toffee edge. Tasting notes take in fresh fruit, honey, citrus, vanilla, a malt extract note and new wood. The soft, fresh heart of the range.
