This Single Cask is a 4 year old from 2015, the distillery's first year of spirit, drawn from ex-Bourbon barrel 1510360 and released at a festival. An outturn of 256 bottles. Kingsbarns, founded by the Wemyss family in 2014, is a Lowland distillery in the East Neuk of Fife.
Built near St Andrews in a restored farm steading, Kingsbarns runs long-necked stills for a light, fruity, unpeated spirit. Matured in a single ex-Bourbon cask, the wood frames a very young malt from the earliest fills.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 60.9%. The ex-Bourbon lends vanilla through vanillin and coconut through oak lactones, the full strength sharpening the bright fruit. An early-vintage single cask from the distillery's first year.
