Description
This Triple Cask Matured is a small batch Kilchoman bottled by Whisky.de, the German retailer, from ex-Bourbon, Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez casks. A large outturn of 12,126 bottles for Germany. Kilchoman is Islay's only farm distillery, the first new distillery on the island in over 124 years when Anthony Wills founded it in 2005.
The distillery malts its own barley and bottles on the farm. Matured across ex-Bourbon, Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez casks, the three woods layer vanilla, dried fruit and a sweet raisin note.
Bottled at 46%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla, the Oloroso fig, the Pedro Ximenez raisin and date, all from their melanoidins, while peat phenols carry the smoke. The recorded notes run to honey, a medicinal edge, smoke, vanilla, chocolate and a coal-gas note. A triple-cask small batch for Germany.
