Description
This is the 2023 Edition of Kilchoman Loch Gorm, a 7 year old matured fully in Oloroso sherry, part of the distillery's annual sherried release named for the dark island loch. Kilchoman, the island's only farm distillery, was founded by Anthony Wills in 2005.
Malting, distilling and bottling all happen on the farm, the barley to bottle way. Matured in Oloroso casks over seven years, the sherry wood deepens the young peated spirit.
Bottled at 46%, non-chill-filtered and natural in colour. The Oloroso gives dried fruit, melanoidins reading as fig and raisin, with peat phenols carrying the smoke. The recorded notes run to a coal-gas edge, chocolate, dried fruit, leather, smoke and malt sweetness. The 2023 sherried Loch Gorm.
