Description
The Rare Vintage 30 year old was distilled in 1988 and matured in ex-Bourbon and tawny Port casks, bottled at a cask strength 53.5%. An outturn of 1,406 bottles, it is among the distillery's prestige old vintages. Jura makes its malt at the island's sole distillery, rebuilt in 1963 to a deliberately light, Highland style.
Rebuilt in 1963 for a light, clean spirit, Jura takes a Port finish well over three decades. Matured in ex-Bourbon and tawny Port casks, the tawny wood brings a mellow, oxidised fruit to the malt.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 53.5%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla while the tawny Port adds mellow caramel, dried fig and walnut. The recorded notes run to a cooked malt note, fresh fruit, honey and fresh oak. A richly fruited old vintage Jura.
