Inchgower is the coastal outlier of Speyside, owned by Diageo and built mostly into the Bell's blend, with single malt a rare sight. The Whisky Cellar selected this single cask, distilled in 2008, and released it at 13 years old in its Private Cellars Selection range. Single cask 10121 gave 297 bottles, released for Europe.

Inchgower's four stills carry steeply angled lyne arms that hold back the heavier, oilier vapours, part of why the malt comes out nutty, waxy and faintly saline. This bottling matured in a tawny Port cask.

Bottled at its natural cask strength of 55.7%, without dilution, the tawny Port wood, long oxidised in cask, gives mellow caramel, dried fig and walnut. At 13 years the wood and the salty, nutty spirit are roughly in balance.
