Description
Inchgower is rarely bottled on its own, most of its salty, nutty spirit going to the blenders, so independent releases carry the distillery's name where the blends do not. Langside Distillers bottled this, distilled in 2008, and released it at 9 years old in its Hepburn's Choice range. The outturn was 365 bottles, released for Poland.
The distillery's spirit is built for body rather than elegance, nutty and waxy with a coastal salt note unusual for Speyside. This bottling matured in an ex-Bourbon cask.
Bottled at 46%, the ex-Bourbon barrel adds vanilla from vanillin and a coconut note from oak lactones, over a light cereal sweetness. At under ten years the cask has had only a short time to work, so Inchgower's own salty, waxy spirit still leads.
