Ardbeg Batch 2 (That Boutique y Whisky Company)

Batch 2 of TBWC's Ardbeg programme, released in 2012, the founding year of That Boutique y Whisky Company. Atom Brands launched the new imprint as a parallel programme to its long established Master of Malt retail operation, with a distinctive release format: each Batch carries a themed collage label by illustrator Emily Chappell and a vatted profile from selected casks. Batch 2 represents one of the earliest releases in the entire TBWC catalogue, placing it as a foundational artefact of the bottler's history.

Bottled in 2012 with no age statement at 50.9% ABV, non chill filtered with no added colour. The NAS designation is typical of TBWC's early batches, with the vatted format prioritising profile consistency over specific age claims. The bottling year places this release before the 2013 Hunter Laing split that reshaped the independent bottler landscape.

TBWC vatted Ardbeg releases combine multiple casks of selected age and provenance, delivering an integrated profile rather than the individual cask character of single cask programmes. The Ardbeg peat phenols (guaiacol, syringol, 4 methylguaiacol, p cresol) carry across the vatted blend, with hemicellulose breakdown furans, oak lactones (coconut, oiled wood) and lignin vanillin and syringaldehyde contributing oak interaction. The Ardbeg purifier ester signature delivers tropical fruit beneath the integrated phenolic core, the distillery's spirit still architecture preserved across the vatting.
