Description
Most LMDW Arran single cask bottlings draw on ex Bourbon casks consistent with the broader Arran Private Cask inventory mix, with Oloroso seasoned cask releases appearing less frequently. This 2008 vintage 9 Year Old uses cask 2008/977, a sherry cask filled at Lochranza in 2008 and matured nine years before bottling in 2018 for the French market.
Spirit was distilled at Lochranza in 2008 and matured nine years in a single Oloroso seasoned cask. Bottled in 2018 at 57.3% without chill filtration and without added colour, with the 312 bottle outturn reflecting an Oloroso butt format rather than the smaller hogshead.
Nine years of Oloroso butt maturation produces developing phase sherry compound integration, with sotolon, furfural and the polyphenol fraction from the original wine ageing well established but not yet at the depth of fifteen year and older Oloroso casks. The combined effect with the underlying Arran spirit signature from the 2008 distillation year produces a layered fresh fruit, dried fruit and gentle sherry register at the cask strength bottling.
