Meadowside Blending was set up in Glasgow in 2011 by Donald and Andrew Hart, building on the Hart family's long history in the Scotch trade. Donald previously co-founded Hart Brothers as an independent bottler, and Meadowside continued the family's focus on single-cask releases at natural strength without chill filtration or added colour. The Maltman label is the firm's flagship single-cask line. This 12 year old Bunnahabhain comes from cask 103, distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2023 at 53.1% natural strength, yielding 337 bottles.

Spirit distilled in 2010 sits in the Burn Stewart ownership era of Bunnahabhain, the period after the 2003 sale from Edrington when production was being deliberately ramped back up after the previous era's reduced output. Casks filled at this point now reach their first decade-plus of independent single-malt releases, with bottlers like Meadowside drawing from stock built up across the early 2010s.

At twelve years in a refill cask, the wood signature is quiet and supportive rather than dominating. American oak ex-bourbon supplies vanilla and soft toasted character without the heavier impact that newer wood would deliver, leaving the spirit clear room to lead. Expect the Bunnahabhain coastal house style coming through cleanly: oily texture, lightly maritime brine, the underlying mineral signature from the Margadale Burn spring source. The 53.1% bottling sits at full natural strength after twelve years of measured evaporation. Single cask, natural colour, non-chill-filtered.
